Are You Enjoying the School?
Russell Haffner

Thank you for trying the WVBS Online Bible School, and thank you for examining the resources we offer. I am convinced that you will be blessed by the lessons we provide. Our desire is your spiritual growth. If we may be of service to you as you seek to learn God's word please do not hesitate to contact us.

Our goal is to stay true to what the Bible teaches and we dedicate ourselves to teaching only those things that can be proven to be accurate from the Scriptures. I encourage you to always carefully consider God's word and see what it teaches for yourself. Please do not put your trust in our words or the words of any man. Men can be wrong, but the Bible is always right.

The WVBS Online Bible School is very happy to present these courses. We do this because we are convinced that there is much error being taught in the religious world and we want to preach the truth of God's word without the additions of human doctrines. It is not that we feel we have a corner on truth -- we hold that the Bible is the only corner on truth -- we are just interested in seeing that others have the opportunity to hear the truth minus the theories of men.

The "Mark Complete" Button

If you have already watched several lessons you may have noticed the “Mark Complete” button located below each video. This feature helps you to track your progress as you view the videos. We encourage you to always click this button when you finish viewing a lesson. The marking of lessons serves as a guide for your own information to mark your place in the study. Even if the lesson is marked complete you can return to watch it again as many times as you want.

For additional information please see the Help Center at the school website. In the Help Center you will find an article which will walk you through the necessary steps to track your progress by marking each lesson complete. It is titled: How-to: "Mark Complete" Lessons.

Have You Told Others About the School?
Russell Haffner

I hope you are enjoying the school. As you know, there is no tuition for the WVBS Online Bible School. It is free to all who want to take advantage of the teaching we offer. This is a great opportunity for those who want a better understanding of the Scriptures. Have you told your friends, family members and co-workers about this amazing opportunity?

The WVBS Online Bible School is designed to provide students with an online, comprehensive, in-depth study of the Bible. The lessons are pure non-denominational teaching based on an accurate "drawing out" of what the Bible teaches, not reading into the text what someone might think it teaches. The courses cover every book in the Bible, plus four additional subjects which help you in your understanding of the scriptures (Christian Evidences, Hermeneutics, Greek and How We Got the Bible). The school is designed for anyone who wants a focused, organized and thorough study of the Bible.

All the instructors in the school have had years of study and have prepared themselves to teach these subjects. Each master teacher is presently, or has been, an instructor in a Bible training school. They are among the finest teachers available today. The level of education is equal to, and even far superior to what many Bible colleges or universities provide. Any graduate of the School will be fully instructed in the Scriptures.

Special Invitation to Auditing Students

I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to upgrade your enrollment from Auditing to Informal or Formal Student status. I want to thank you for making use of the videos provided by the school, but I encourage you to consider the advantages of upgrading your enrollment. If you upgrade your enrollment you will not only have access to the video Bible lessons, but you will also have free online viewing access to the teacher’s course notes, exams and some course books.

Formal Students follow a set course order which is designed to make the progression through the Bible easier. The assignments include viewing all video lessons, taking exams and writing research papers. Formal Students are issued a certificate of completion when they fully meet the requirements of a course. They receive a diploma when they have successfully completed all required courses.

Informal Students have the same requirements to meet for each course and cover the same material but they are allowed to take the courses in any order they desire. Informal Students receive certificates for each course but no diploma is awarded.

If you would like to change your status you will need to click on ENROLLMENT which is on the blue menu bar at the school website. When you have reached the enrollment page please select either the Formal or Informal Student Registration button. This will provide you with the form to fill out to change your status.

I completely understand if you have no interest in upgrading your enrollment. I commend you on your hard work and devotion to learning more about the Bible. God bless you as you continue in your studies. If I can answer any questions for you about the school please let me know.

Do You Have the Hope of a Christian?
Russell Haffner

You may have enrolled in the school to gain a better understanding of God's word so that you can live a better life for Him. Perhaps you are thinking about gaining eternal life in heaven. You may even be looking for a general sense of hope. When we think about hope, we should not think of it as being a simple wish. Hope is the anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast (Hebrews 6:19). What is the Christian's hope?

  • Resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:17-18)
  • Eternal life (Titus 1:2; 3:7)
  • A better home (2 Corinthians 5:2-3)
  • New Jerusalem, the holy city in heaven (Revelation 21:2)
  • To be with the redeemed forever (Revelation 21:22-27)
  • To avoid destruction (2 Thessalonians 1:7-9)

The Christian's hope is not an empty aspiration. Mankind can have full trust and confidence that God always fulfills His promises. The righteous will be rewarded, and the wicked will be punished. Christians have full assurance of their hope (Hebrews 6:11). Hope is not only desire but also expectation (Romans 8:24).

"Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil" (Hebrews 6:17-19).

My hope for you is that as you study the Bible Courses in the school your understanding and obedience to God's commands will increase your hope.

Are You Going Too Fast?
Russell Haffner

I recently read of an event that happened several years ago. It seems a jet fighter plane actually shot itself down. It was flying over the desert and was testing a new cannon mounted on its wing. The jet was flying at supersonic speeds, but the cannon shells were subsonic. What happened was a tragedy. The fighter ran into the shells it had fired only seconds before. The jet was traveling too fast.

If we are not careful a similar tragedy can occur in our lives. We can become so busy with the things of this fast-paced life that we destroy ourselves spiritually. There are some who have so many activities in their day that they are too busy for God and His word. There are always things that need to be done, but we must put spiritual things first. Be sure to set aside time each day for prayer and Bible study.

Jesus said, "Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you" (Matthew 6:31-33).

I commend you on your decision to slow down and spend your time studying God's word.

Also, since you are focused upon the study of the Scriptures it is important that you do not rush through your studies. Your mind needs time to consider and contemplate the new things you are learning. God's word is deep. It requires time and reflection to truly understand. As a student in the Bible school it is important that you learn the material, not just complete the courses. Be sure to slow down and spend the needed time to comprehend the deep things taught in God's word.
